A Great Gram Day

It's a GREAT Gram day here in the country on this early hot Georgia summer day. I rose early today. Papa hadn't expected to see me when I appeared in the kitchen with my stickie uppie hair, pink robe, and still wearing my nose strip (I thought I might want to go back to sleep later, wouldn't want to wake myself up snoring, now would I, you're seeing the logic now, right?). I love these days when I get to stay home and do whatever I want. It's like Heaven. My response to his surprize at my early rising was, "Seize the day", though I must admit, it didn't sound very convincing, even to me. None the less, it's been fun. I didn't go back to sleep, maybe I dosed off a time or two while watching the news, who knows. News gets old quickly and in my attempt to make the most of the day, I decided to go outside. It's so nice in the mornings, then the heat takes over and indoors looks more interesting. I found myself pulling weeds for a while, then I sat in the swing and just enjoyed looking at the lake and feeling the morning air. A big red cardinal flew down about twenty feet in front of me and landed in the yard, then darted off into the trees. There's some cool stuff happening out there, I should do that more often.

When I came inside, I decided to put a perm in my hair. I can get into all kinds of trouble when I'm left alone with no one to watch me. My girls shutter at the things I do to my hair, but I say, "Think about all the money I saved, and anyway, it'll grow back." Not to worry, today I was lucky, it actually looks pretty good. I only used half a boxed perm which cost probably $6, so I'm just out 3 bucks. Now that's a deal!

I'm going to finish the day gathering up clothes I'm not using and take a load to Goodwill. It's spring, well technically it's still spring, and I'm feeling the need to do spring cleaning. I'd better act on it before the desire fades away. I may not be modivated again till next spring. If only I could stop time, maybe I could catch up with all the things I'd like to accomplish. I won't get it all done, but still, it's been a GREAT Gram day.

Hope ya'll had great days, too.

I'm having a great day too! It's my day off - after this I have a stretch that's far too long (someone's on vacation) so I'm enjoying the day. Glad you are too!

Bless your heart, Mari! I'm sure you will earn some stars in your crown over the next - I think you said two weeks?
When I have to work those longer stretches, I try to be mentally tough, meaning I try not to let myself be in that place where I'm going around in a funk that I have to work, you know? Like Paul tells us, I try to be content in whatever situation I'm in. I'm not always successful with that, but I definitely agree with it.
Summer is the time for vacations, I guess. We've had someone out on sick leave, so we have had to change our schedules around to cover that, which means picking up some weekends. Boo hoo.

I have found that these stretched aren't really so bad if you know they are coming and you are mentally ready! It's when I get a surprise thrown in, that I have a hard time!
