Merry Christmas everyone, even though today is the 26th! I'm sure most of you who will read this have already read Jennifer's account, so you know some of our ups and downs. I'm always excited and happy to have the family here, but having everyone well at the same time, especially in December, is probably not likely to happen often. It was kind of a whirlwind, and part of me feels like it should not be over yet. I wish we could stay together longer, but it was fun, a very sweet time. In exchange for being off on the weekend for our early get together, I worked Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It was busy, since everyone who could get the time off, was off, and it's a little sad, too, because I knew the patients wanted to be home with their families, too. Today, I would have liked to brave the stores, but didn't have the energy, which is a good thing probably. We had a quiet day at home with plenty of leftovers to eat, napped, watched TV and enjoyed being home together, Gram and Papa.
I had a funny experience at work Monday. Kesha, the young lady who is our CNA, certified nursing assistant, had brought her camera and was showing the pictures (through the world of modern technology, it still amazes me how you can see the pictures right on the camera). Anyway, several of us were gathered at the round table where the nurses are supposed to sit to chart. I was chatting and looking occasionally at the pictures as they are passing back and forth. I saw some kids on a tree swing in a yard, and I said, "That makes me think of my a swing my grandkids used to have in their backyard." Kesha said, "Yeah, they love that that swing, that's at my brother's house." She changed the picture and said, "This is the front of the house." I looked at it, then I looked back again. I said, "Where is that house?" She said, "Woods of Habersham". It was the house Jennifer had lived in here in Athens and the swing was the one John had put up. He tied a rope on a rock, threw it way up over a high branch, then secured a Little Tykes swing on it. The yard was sort of hilly in that area, so the kids could get in the swing easily, and when they were pushed, they had a very exciting ride. It just gave me a very funny feeling though to see someone else's kids in the picture, but it was neat, too. I said Kesha, this makes us like almost related. Smiling real big she said, I know. It was kind of a wierd bonding moment. It also made me stop and think about how this really is a small world. I mean, what are the chances of that chain of events happening? I thought it was pretty cool. Kesha said to tell you Jennifer that someone lives there who loves it and takes very good care of it. She said, "It's my dream house, I love that house." I'm glad good people live there who are happy and enjoying it.
That about it for me tonight. Everyone stay safe. Hopefully I will post again before the New Year, but if not, then I'll say Happy New Year to you all now. We'll catch up with each other when things settle down, I'm sure.

Off to the Races - It's a New Week
I'm up early on this Monday morning. It's still dark outside, I woke up at 4:30. Some people get up at the same time everyday, as if having an internal clock inside their heads. I never know if I'll pass out when my head hits the pillow and sleep like a rock, or toss and turn and rise early. Makes it more interesting, maybe, diverse. Actually, on the days I work, I'm usually physically and mentally tired enough that I can't stay awake long after I get home, so that pretty well takes care of that, usually, though not always. Then after a day or two off, my body starts to adjust back to it's natural tendencies.
You've probably noticed my daughter, Jennifer, often blogs in the wee hours of the night. I'm afraid she inherited that gene from me, sorry about that Jen. But as they say, if life gives you lemons, make lemonaide. She does some great blogging in those hours, huh?
As for me, I'm up and awake. Sometimes I'm up, and that's about it, but today, I'm up, and I say, "Seize the day!" I'll let you know later how well that goes. So much to do, so little time!
Have a great day out there bloggyworld!!

A Good Day
This has been a good day. I can't say we accomplished all we had hoped for and more, but we did get the tree up and decorated, and made a good start, though we still have a way to go. The tree looks good, very pretty, but it may need a little tweaking when I see it in the light of day. I do wish we could all get together at each other's houses. Maybe we will be able to do that, I hope so, all warm and cozy. If there are any readers out there other than my children, you realize that comment was directed to them! I'm sure you are all nice folks, but I don't think we know each other well enough yet to be spending Christmas together at each other's houses! Even so, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and stay safe everyone!
I'm calling it a day.
Gram says goodnight.

The First Post
Hi,
I'm Gram, wife of one, mother of three, grandmother of five, nurse of many. This blog thing is new for me, and I don't yet have my blog legs under me, but maybe there are some others out there who will find some commonalities with me, and we can enjoy swapping life stories in a way that is edifying to each other. This is just my toe in the water today! Comment if you're interested.
